Untitled (#228), Rebellious Silence, Pure Land,

Untitled (#228):
Cindy Sherman was raised in the coming age of several social movements including feminism. Shermans work is nearly 7 feet high with vivid coloring. She is shown as the biblical heroine, Judith. Her feet are shown to be large and thick while her head is tilted with a strange facial expression to make the viewer quetion her emotional state after performing the act.

Rebellious Silence:
This image is a photograph of the artist, Shirin Neshat, acting as the Woman of Allah (her series). In each image she is seen with the written Farsi text all along her body. Each piece is a work of poetry written by contemporary Iranian women about the womans role in the revolution. The womans gaze, however, gives a much deeper meaning and perspective to the photograph.

Pure Land:
The pure land is known as the pure abode of a Buddha. The term "pure land" custom to Chinese and East Asian tradtions.
